Valuable Networking

It’s amazing how my network has been expanded since I arrived in Australia 2 years ago. When I was a first year student at Swinburne University, I was very new to the University as well as to the country. One day we had a seminar conducted by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and we were told about the benefits of joining ACS. After attending their branch forums, workshops, seminars and social events, I realized the advantages of being a member. This has enabled me to meet many people from the IT industry. By registering as a member we will have the opportunity to receive interesting and resourceful magazines such as Information Age and PC Authority.

ACS conducts career workshops, and in one of the workshop the presenter mentioned the Melbourne IT Mentoring Program (MITM). This program gives valuable advantages, because here we can select a role we prefer and we can work on projects. We get the chance to meet many people with different skill sets. This helps us to exchange ideas and thoughts with other learners. I believe that I have learned a lot about the skills needed to be a business analyst from MITM.
