Restarting a suspended Virtual Machine
VM didn't want to work;
"The virtual machine you are attempting to restore is using the FFXSR CPU feature, but your host does not support it. An error occurred while restoring the virtual machine state from file "G:\virtual machines\windows server\windows server 2008 R2 X 64-6db70672.vmss".
Solution: Close Vmware workstation. Locate the virtual machine's folder. Delete the .vmss, .lck, and .nvram files.
Ref: Vmware KB.

Virtual machine cannot open .vmdk file
"Cannot open the disk 'G:\VirtualMachines\Windows Server\Windows server 2008 R2 x64.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.
Reason: Failed to lock the file.
Didn't realize it's gonna be so easy to fix.
I just delete the .Lck folder within my Windows Server 2008 virtual machine folder and after this without any problem my VM worked fine.

"Error while powering on: the Vmware Authorisation Service is not running"
First I checked whether that particular service is running, and that looked perfectly alright. Still not convinced with that and then clicked on restart the service option which made my VM to wake up!!!
1. Click Start and then type Run
2. Type services.msc and click ok
3. locate the Vmware Authorisation service from the list.
4. Click start/Restart button to start the service.

It’s amazing how my network has been expanded since I arrived in Australia 2 years ago. When I was a first year student at Swinburne University, I was very new to the University as well as to the country. One day we had a seminar conducted by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and we were told about the benefits of joining ACS. After attending their branch forums, workshops, seminars and social events, I realized the advantages of being a member. This has enabled me to meet many people from the IT industry. By registering as a member we will have the opportunity to receive interesting and resourceful magazines such as Information Age and PC Authority.
ACS conducts career workshops, and in one of the workshop the presenter mentioned the Melbourne IT Mentoring Program (MITM). This program gives valuable advantages, because here we can select a role we prefer and we can work on projects. We get the chance to meet many people with different skill sets. This helps us to exchange ideas and thoughts with other learners. I believe that I have learned a lot about the skills needed to be a business analyst from MITM.
